According to Wikipedia, which refers to two narratives, one of them is a famous narrative from the descendants of Haji Khalifeh, which has also been published in the Sarmayeh newspaper. They state:
“On one of the trips when Haji Khalifeh Ali Rahbar went to Mecca, he took some almond pastries from Yazd for his provisions. The pastry is very nutritious and lightweight. After returning from Hajj, he realized a few pieces of pastry remained in his pocket, which they jokingly said these pastries also became Haji.”
It was from there that the Haji Badami pastry took this title and has been known by it for years.

This is a local pastry specific to central cities, especially Yazd and Kashan. It is very light, compact, and nutritious, often served with tea and is the best substitute for sugar.
